The diminutive size of this cigar — the Padrón Serie 1926 No. 35 in a Maduro wrapper — belies its abundance of flavor. Box-pressed and dark, with a lush, full draw, the full-bodied, medium-to-full-strength 1926 No. 35 Maduro is a “puro” Nicaraguan smoke that utilizes wrapper, binder and filler tobaccos that are all a minimum of five years old.
Smoking the Serie 1926 No. 35 Maduro can be likened to chewing chocolate-covered espresso beans; the core flavor is strong, earthy and coffee-like, and there are subtle hints of sweet fruit. Caramel and Padrón’s signature aroma of cocoa powder are also accounted for. The meaty finish contains an intriguing smattering of spices and cedar.
Cigar Aficionado accorded this smoke a 92 rating in 2017, making it a worthy addition to the ultra-premium 1926 series, which is named for the birth year of late, legendary Padrón founder José Orlando Padrón.
