With a healthy length of six inches and a respectable ring gauge of 50, the Drew Estate ACID Toast is named after a flavor profile that reminds the smoker of warm, rich, buttery toasted bread.
The Toast variety of the ACID family is a member of the ACID Orange line of “Subculture Exclusives,” which make the flavor of tobacco more prominent than the mix of more than 100 infused herb, botanical and essential oil influences that ACID cigars are known for.
That said, the Toast is still an ACID cigar, and these infusions are nevertheless still imbued by means of a top-secret, proprietary process carried out in dedicated curing rooms in the heart of Drew Estate’s Gran Fabrica cigar factory in Estelí, Nicaragua.
Like all other sticks in the ACID series, the Toast gets the “ACID” part of its name from the business acronym (Arielle Chester Industrial Design, or A.C.I.D.) of Brooklyn urban/industrial/graffiti/motorcycle artist Scott Chester, whose artwork graces all ACID cigar packaging. According to Chester, “The ACID concept represents a lifestyle intended to depict a person who’s not afraid to explore the Earth or explore life, whether on a motorcycle, or in his own thoughts and expressions.”
With the ACID Toast, this exploration includes the partaking of extensively aged Nicaraguan binder and long-filler tobaccos surrounded by an oily, sweet, deep chocolate-colored maduro wrapper, producing a rich, mild and sweet-yet-spicy cigar. Solidly constructed, with a mild-to-medium body and medium strength, the ACID Toast draws easily, burns evenly and turns out copious quantities of curling, bluish smoke. Notes detected in the aroma of said smoke include earth, leather, herbs, cedar, spices (including white pepper) and floral essences.
On ample reflection, the Toast is good for a nearly two-hour burn, and it’s an excellent stick to pair with light ales and other fine beers. Pick up a box today, to enjoy when you have time for slow, gentle, unhurried smokes with friends.
